It was a very pleasant morning for cricket, mild and calm with the sound of the Marching Girls behind us. We arrived bright and early full of energy and enthusiasm. Having lost the toss we were put into bat first, (which is actually what we had planned on doing anyway). It was a fantastic effort out at the crease, with 5 out of the 7 batters retiring. Some strong partnerships were formed, especially between Grace and Liesl.
The backing up was superb today, special mention to Emma for communicating clearly with her other batter and calling her through. We ended up with 95 runs. The standout today was our fielding. It was SENSATIONAL! So many incredible moments, including a boundary saving slide from Sophie, a stunning catch by Evie, a fabulous run out by Liesl, a stumping and caught behind by Grace, whose keeping was very tight today. Then Alexia and Makalya combined together to get another extraordinary run out.
The girls were on fire and pumped in the field. With such an awesome effort out in the field and some accurate bowling we managed to restrict Halwswell Hogwarts to 80. Congratulations to our Player of the Day, Evie, who was not out, took a stunning catch, took two wickets while bowling, including a wicket maiden.
