The club is very pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Mathews as Performance and Culture Coach for the Women’s premier side and will have a limited role in supporting some of our other coaches who are involved in the women’s programme.
Paul has already had involvement with a number of our top players after he was the Assistant Coach and manager of the Canterbury under 19s side last season. Paul has a long association with cricket, spanning decades, as a player, coach and manager of various sides, especially during his teaching and school principalship career.

Paul is a father of three children who are yet to grasp his love of cricket. When not around cricket he, by his own admission, plays golf poorly and has a number of unfinished DIY projects on the go. During the week Paul runs his own employment law advocacy firm and business coaching company. He has also just enrolled to do a Masters degree in Sports Management at UC.
Paul is especially excited about playing a role in creating a winning culture among our Premier side. This is reflected in the title Performance and Culture Coach. He has strong belief in the huge potential of our women’s premier side and is itching to get pre-season under way.
