Selwyn/Sydenham won the toss and sent the Scorchers in to bat. After losing a couple of early wickets, Grace Darnbrough in only her 2nd Div 1 game – confidently held up one end while lots happened around her, seeing the score through from 2-21 to 5-73. Millie had two good partnerships, one with Grace, then Luce – both 27 runs – helping us through to 106.
The Selwyn players liked our faster bowlers on the artificial wicket and got off to a good start, before a wicket in the 7th over 1-49 thanks to Millie. Elsie Duncan had the best bat (43), taking the team through to 5-97. This just left a few runs for the remaining batters, with one wicket in hand which they managed.
