We welcomed Katie Kirrane to NWWC, and also great to have Xenia back on the field.
After a delayed start we got underway on Hospital Corner #5. St Albans won the toss & elected to field.
An 84 run partnership between India and Edie set the innings up to a great start, 2/97 after 14 overs. A second good partnership between Edie and Lola of 76 took us to 5/187 at 28 overs. Edie & Xenia put on another 18 runs 5/205. St Albans shared the wickets between 5 bowlers, most economical were Lily 1-16 off 4 overs and Maya 0-19 off 5 overs.
Very tight bowling made it hard for the St Albans openers to get a good start. At the 15 over mark they were 4/57, however at that point the wind really started picking up making it hard for all fielders, especially those bowling into it. Ella, Maya and Lilia took this opportunity to put on runs, taking the total to 146 at 30 overs, by which time the temperature had dropped about 20 degrees and the wind had picked up significantly. Wickets were shared between 6 bowlers with 3 good catches from Edie, Millie and Kelly, and quick hands behind the wickets by Luce stumping one of the opening batters.
