It was great to be playing on Burnside #3 along side our Prem team on #1. Due to availability, we required several players from Div 2 & Div 3 to play a couple of games, thanks to the girls and their parents – Hayley, Ruby, Michaela, Lee-Ann and Maddie. We also welcomed Rachel Wahab and Dominque Hassan to the club – having moved to Christchurch for study.
The teams were determined between the Mark and the captains Paige and Kelly prior to the warmup. The teams initially warmed up together before Scorchers winning the toss elected to bat.
A good 69 run 2nd wicket partnership between India and Phoebe set up a good platform. Supported by Hayley and Ruby, Kelly was able to take the total from 84 to 169.
Congratulations to Rachel on her 5-wicket bag, taking wickets throughout the innings.
The Blazers were unable to get underway, the best partnership was 24 between Rachel and Michaela. Tight bowling and fielding restricted the runs, all out for 66.
