NWWC Heat vs Rangiora CC Saturday 8th February

Dudley Park provided a stunning backdrop for Saturday’s match between NWWC Heat and Rangiora CC – Waimak Girls. It was the first time both teams had played on a grass wicket, and the lack of bounce posed a challenge that took some time to adjust to. NWWC won the toss and sent Rangiora in to bat. Harlow Dugdale set the tone right away by claiming a wicket on the very first ball.

What was particularly impressive was how the girls put our training into practice. Walking in with the bowler, staying on their toes and working together to cut off singles, keeping Rangiora to a modest total of 1/87.

NWWC secured the win, though it came down to a nail-biting finish, needing 6 runs from the final over. A big thank you to Jason Dugdale for treating both teams to post-match ice blocks, and to Rangiora CC for the sausage sizzle – true country hospitality at its best.
