NWWC Premier Women go back to back! 40 over competition winners

The New World Ilam Premier Women’s side had plenty of changes this week with the recommencement of the Magicians HBJ competition, leaving the selectors with some decisions to make prior to the final and deciding round of the 40 over competition. The objective was clear – win the match to win the 40 over title for the second year.

The OBC Premier Women travelled Burnside Park #2 won the toss and elected to bat. U19 rep Lexie Boon was joined by Premier Women debutant Hannah Biddulph, who is not from New South Wales, in opening the bowling and in her first over of Premier Women’s cricket took the wickets of Camryn Linton bowled and Abby Gerken who was caught for 2 runs. Hannah’s first spell wanted for some accuracy, but she had done the damage in taking two key wickets.

OBC were 3 down when Sammy Borcoski was brought on to bowl the 11th over and the start of an incredible spell of bowling with Mikayla Nortman. Sammy’s figures were 6.1 overs, 6 wickets for 8 runs. That effort was the top bowling from a North West Women’s player for the season to date.

OBC all out for 85 in 23.1 overs.
