What brings you down to Christchurch?
I moved to Christchurch for university and to be closer to family
What are you currently studying at UC and how is that all going?
I am currently studying for my MA, which has so far been very interesting and rewarding
How did you first get into cricket, and what made you fall in love with the game?
Our family loves cricket and has always been involved, so we were exposed to it early on and then started playing when we were about 11. I’ve always liked sports and spending lots of time outside, so cricket was a good mix! It’s also been pretty cool being able to play alongside both my dad and sister as well.
When you aren’t training or playing cricket, how do you like to spend your free time?
In my free time I like playing music and other sports, reading, napping, and spending time with friends.
Are there any cricket captains or leaders (inside or outside of sport) who inspire your approach to captaincy?
Amy Satterthwaite, Meg Lanning, and Kane Williamson- all are able to stay so calm and tactical under pressure.
Captaining a Premier side brings extra scrutiny and pressure. What is your go-to method for staying calm and focused when the game is on the line?
Just focusing one ball at a time. At the end of the day it is a game and should still be fun!
Our squad has a great mix of experience and youth. How do you plan to help the younger or newer players transition into Premier cricket?
Make sure everyone feels comfortable in the group and know that they have support of their teammates. It can be a step up, but enjoying your cricket is still a priority!
